Here I am again, sharing eight lines of WIP for the Weekend Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday.
“Welcome” to new readers, and “Thanks for coming back” to returners.
And carrying on from where last week left off…
… where Llew had just seen Jonas leaving another girl’s room. He’s come to Llew’s room to talk, she’s already tried to push him out, but he’s strong. She says she’s sick of talking. So he told her to hit him. While tempted, she wasn’t going to, simply for the fact he’d told her to, but then she couldn’t resist…
So last week’s snippet ended with Llew punching him, and thanks to a reminder from one of the commenters, I actually ended up editing the final sentence in that snippet to: She punched him square in the chest, jarring her knuckles, elbow and shoulder.
And now we continue…
She wouldn’t let him see it hurt her, though, especially since the pain was accompanied by a certain relief.
Jonas rocked back, taking a step to regain his balance, then he came forward again, standing firm.
“Do it again,” he said. He neither pleaded nor commanded, simply invited. Llew hit him with her other fist. Then she did it again, and again, and again. She pummelled with her fists and, when the layers of pain became too much, she slapped with flat hands, then pummelled again. This man had become her best friend, who’d been so dangerous and yet so alluring, who’d got her into this predicament, and helped her out of another.
What do you think she will do once she’s worked out her frustration?
Find out next week…
This was an excerpt from my current WIP, WARRIOR’S TOUCH, the follow-on book to HEALER’S TOUCH.
Of course, I think it would be fab if you would consider purchasing a copy of Healer’s Touch (A few links I know of can be found in the right hand sidebar).
On the run after surviving the hangman’s noose, Llew learns that her ability to heal herself and others is more dangerous than she could have imagined. And her greatest hope of remaining free of those who would use her power for ill lies with the man who would kill her if he ever found out what she was… or would he?
Oh, but there is so much more!
HT is quirky, fast paced, Western-steampunk-fantasy. It’s Llew’s journey of self discovery and acceptance and the start of her emotional healing.
