Here I am again, sharing eight lines of WIP for the Weekend Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday.
A complete list of entries for this week can be found here.
As always: “Welcome” to new readers, and “Thanks for coming back” to returners.
This week’s entry carries on from where last week left off…
… where Llew had just seen Jonas leaving another girl’s room. He’s come to Llew’s room to talk, she’s already tried to push him out, but he’s strong. She says she’s sick of talking. So he told her to hit him (we’re seeing it from Llew’s POV so don’t really know his moitivation, but it is totally because he can see she needs to get her frustrations out… so he’ offering an outlet… don’t worry, he can take it). So she hit him. Then she hit him again (he invited her to). Then she did it again and again and again… you get the idea… And so, we continue:
She looked him in the eye as she punched him in the shoulder one last time with every ounce of strength she had left. He winced, and she almost smiled as satisfaction made a brief appearance. “Better?” he asked.
It was, actually, but she wasn’t about to tell him that.
He nodded and stepped back from her, evidently accepting her pigheadedness, probably trying to take the higher ground. It only served to make him look as guilty as she already knew him to be. Then a smile touched his lips and he gripped her hands, healing her bruised knuckles and easing her tired muscles, before turning for the door.
This was an excerpt from my current WIP, WARRIOR’S TOUCH, the follow-on book to HEALER’S TOUCH.
Of course, I think it would be fab if you would consider purchasing a copy of Healer’s Touch (A few links I know of can be found here).
On the run after surviving the hangman’s noose, Llew learns that her ability to heal herself and others is more dangerous than she could have imagined. And her greatest hope of remaining free of those who would use her power for ill lies with the man who would kill her if he ever found out what she was… or would he?
Oh, but there is so much more!
HT is quirky, fast paced, Western-steampunk-fantasy. It’s Llew’s journey of self discovery and acceptance and the start of her emotional healing.
