Bandit Book Bloggers: ECANTE by Aiyana Jackson

Ecante by Aiyana Jackson (Cover)

Deep under the ocean, Simeon Escher, protégé to the leader of the order of Loth Lörion, finds himself an unexpected guest aboard the submersible, Narwhal. Home to a crew of humans, and strange mer-folk few people are aware exist, Simeon is swept up in their quest to find a world within a world, a possible safe haven from the insidious reach of the Kabbalah. Yet how can he think about his mission when the captain’s niece fills his every thought, distracting him from all that’s important to him, including his own fiancée.

Encante (a Novella) is the first in a new Steampunk series, set in a multiverse known as The Fifteen Solars. Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy is probably the most well recognised example of a Multiverse-based tale.

The Fifteen Solars is so named due to the fact there are fifteen planets existing in parallel, each very different from the next, but

Bandit Book Bloggers: Interview with Gillian O’Rourke, author of THE RELUCTANT PROPHET

Cover - The Reluctant Prophet by Gillian O'RourkeHello, Gillian! Welcome to the home of Deb E., where I grill you slowly, basting regularly, until you’re nice and tender then I—uh, hey, where ya going? Come back, come back, I’ll be gentle. Promise. [See. I look totally innocent].

So, first up, can you tell me a little about you and your induction into writing?

Hi Deb, thanks for having me (but please not for dinner). And I promise to keep everything short and sweet! At the moment I’m working away full time as a Social Care Worker, helping adults with Intellectual Disabilities, but before that I was a nurse for several years in Melbourne, Australia, where I grew up. First thing people might notice about me is my odd accent, which has a mix of Scottish, Aussie and Irish now since I moved to Eire in 2007.

As for my writing, I’ve always been writing stories, especially since my teens, but I haven’t truly pursued it because I wouldn’t let anyone read my stuff. Last year I decided to ‘grow a pair’ and I was really very lucky to come across some very lovely people from Kristell Ink, who decided they loved my fantasy novel.

Tell me a little about your fantasy novel, THE RELUCTANT PROPHET.

The Reluctant Prophet is set in its own unique world, more medieval in technologies and beliefs. The story is written from the perspective of seventeen year old Esther, who has the gift/curse of foresight. The only problem is, she can only

HEALER’S TOUCH unavailable on Kindle, still on Smashwords

Due to reasons, HEALER’S TOUCH has fallen off of Amazon’s Kindle (as have the other Kristell Ink titles – NOT Kristell Ink’s fault*). However, it is still available via Smashwords, Kobo, Barnes & Noble and no doubt many other outlets. Oh, and the paperback is still on Amazon.

I will update my Kindle links as soon as I know the new ones. I know Grimbold Books are working feverishly to get them all back up.

I am particularly annoyed that this happened now, as HT had been selling quite well the last two days. The rank leap had been staggering (for which I have my readers to thank).

Onwards and upwards, though, eh?

.

* Not Amazon’s fault, either, I would like to stipulate

***UPDATE: Please note, HEALER’S TOUCH is back on Amazon in Kindle and Paperback editions now (it was only gone for about a day – Phew!)***

Today’s Proud Mum Moment Number 1

Actually… number 2, but since the latest post gets to sit at the top, I’m putting my real number 1 up next… ‘Cause this is cool, and all, but…

Right. After seeing another author pop a review for their book from Amazon.co.uk up on Facebook, I thought I’d go check out how Healer’s Touch was doing over there… Yes, I do think it’s annoying that Amazon’s reviews and sales info is divided across all the various Amazons. So much more time-wasting!

Anyway, here’s a little bit:

When I first read Healer’s Touch – I immediately sensed the passion in the author’s words. The setting, characters and descriptions have been crafted well and I loved the mix of Wild West, traditional fantasy, Steampunk and medievalism. It’s unusual and handled well.

And the link to the Review (hope that works!)
